Writing is one of those odd pursuits where progress sometimes feels invisible. In other areas of my life, wins are much easier to recognise because they’re measured in hitting targets and seeing tangible results, often at speed. Writing is completely different.
Having a support network of people who push you, and make you rise to the top, is amazing and awesome and helps many people survive through the hard times. But what about being that support person for others?
As an author, I struggle with what to say, and when to say it on social media. Maybe this blog can help? Maybe it won’t. Either way it’s an entertaining read.
Running events at libraries for authors gives you a direct line to readers. You see what captures attention, what people respond to, and what they are curious about. You see where people hesitate and where they get stuck in.
Winning in writing, to me, feels a bit like a cool drink on a hot day. It’s the small achievements, the quiet successes, that pull me through when I think I’m struggling.
